Travel Tales a.k.a. "Stories from Your Suitcase"

Destined to be a regular appearance on the blog are YOUR travel tales - "Stories from Your Suitcase" is one of the items that YOU have said you would like to see included on the blog.  Everyone has a story about running (or walking, or cycling, or tri-ing) while traveling.  Be it traveling to a race; running while on vacation; running during a business trip.  Everyone has a story.  We invite you to send YOUR story(s) to Lori@CapCityRunners.com for inclusion in a future "issue."  Humor, success, lessons learned:  they are all what the rest of YOU want to hear.  Please share with us.

The first "Story from a Suitcase" is more a dispelling of rumor than an actual travel tale.  However, it does explain an upcoming travel event for the Capital City Runner Dude.  Ha!  Across the street into the new (Whole Foods) Miracle Plaza.  Boy, is his suitcase gonna be a big one.

Many of you have heard that Capital City Runners is moving.  YES!  Capital City Runners is moving across Thomasville Road into the new Miracle Plaza near Whole Foods.  With the explosion of the Midtown area, and the opportunity for a larger space, the fit seems like a fantastic idea.  Owners Kevin and Jonathan considered, then planned, and are now coordinating the move based on several factors.  Along with our current lease expiring in October, a move became a very viable option.

The first major factor was because of YOU!  Due to the overwhelming community support and patronage that CCR has received over the past three years, the shop is in a unique position to expand both its square footage and inventory potential.  However, the Midtown area is where we want to be and stay.  Currently being housed between two "going strong" restaurants left little chance of size expansion in our current location.  Thus, when the Miracle Plaza began development a near perfect opportunity presented itself.

It doesn't look like much now.  But, oh how those silver
tubes will keep the climate controlled in the new shop.

The next item Jon and Kevin worked into the thought process was the ability to increase the number of In-Store events.  If the shop had more floor space, then many different types of events become possibilities.  Also, if the parking is more readily available throughout the day, in-store events are much easier to facilitate and easier for YOU to attend.

The combination of shops and restaurants and Whole Foods in the new Miracle Plaza were also a key point on the Pro's list.  The foot traffic that promises to be generated by these shops and eateries will lend itself to a higher visitation rate at CCR.  Who wouldn't want to see their favorite, local run specialty shop move up in the world and continue to succeed?  That's right!  We knew that YOU would.

Stay tuned to this "channel" for updates, pictures, and fun information regarding the status of YOUR Runner Dude's travel across the way.
